A devastating fire broke out at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, specifically at the National Public Health and Reference Laboratory (NHPRL) adjacent to the Diabetes Centre, resulting in the destruction of several offices, including stores, archives, accounts, and administration, with eyewitnesses reporting that the blaze started around midnight and was eventually extinguished by 5 am, leaving behind a trail of damage estimated to be worth millions of cedis, as well as the loss of invaluable archival materials that predated Ghana's independence.An eyewitness said the fire started at about midnight Tuesday, and was put out completely at about 5 am Wednesday morning. “Everything got burnt” he stressed.
