 NEWS REPORT:$200k Effiakuma Astroturf  In Takoradi Flooded After Weekend Downpour.   Heavy rainfall in Takoradi caused an artificial pitch inEffiakuma to flood,with residents,mainly children and teenagers,seen swimming and playing football in the pitch-turned pool.The video of the incident was first shared on facebook by David Tetteh Botchway,a retired football teacher at Adiembra Secondary School in Secondi-Takoradi.    The construction of the Astroturf began in 2018 and was completed in 2020at a cost of $200,00.The facility has had drainage issues since it’s opening.Hon.Joseph Cudjoe,former MP for Effia constituency said “The reason for the plethora of recreational facilities in Effia is to use them as a vehicle through which football talents develop”.    David Tetteh,academy coach at Sedan FC said “This is not the first time we have seen it flood.Usually after a few hours of rain, the surface area gets filled with rainwater”.     The rece...

University of Ghana Takes Action: Over 100 Students Face Sanctions for Misconduct and Exam Violations

The University of Ghana has released a list identifying 115 students who have faced disciplinary action due to various forms of misconduct and examination irregularities, following a resolution by the Academic Board.     According to a notice from the Office of the Registrar dated June 16, 2025, the consequences for these students range from suspensions and expulsions to grade reductions and formal warnings.     The disciplinary actions fall into two primary categories: general misconduct and violations related to examinations. Notably, fourteen students, including Mr. Abdul-Yakini Lukman and Mr. Daniel Ansah, received two-year suspensions for "disorderly behavior and disobedience to university directives," as outlined in Statutes 42(1)(a) of the University of Ghana Statutes 2011.       Most of the infractions pertained to examination misconduct.
